I’ve trained in both Ayurvedic- and Traditional Chinese Medicine-based Yoga Therapeutics. The courses I’ve trained in were also informed by contemporary sports science research, taught by professionals in the field. Yoga Therapy (YT) can be thought of as a yogic version of physiotherapy, incorporating strengthening and lengthening asanas to help the body rebalance. Different styles of yoga can be used to support different conditions; breathwork, acupressure, myofascial release, and prop work can also be employed.

NeuroMuscular Therapy

NeuroMuscular Therapy (NMT) is a fascially informed bodywork practice developed by John Sharkey. Building on the work of Leon Chaitow, NMT helps support folks still dealing with chronic pain or changes in sensation who have already “done all the right things” and are still searching.

I did my PhD on fascia, and I continue to be amazed at its innate intelligence. Bodies are resilient and adaptive; they also tell stories. Even if someone isn’t sure what happened, the fascial matrix will express it. And a skilled bodyworker will be able to guide it back to a more fluid and coherent state.

The issue may be in the tissue; while we continue to refine our research regarding the fascial matrix and its sensing/connective abilities, one thing is obvious to anyone working in studio or on the table: we can work with the soft tissue to prime the body for better performance.
